Honda is heating up the summer with updates to the popular Pilot and HR-V that are expected to make their way to dealership showrooms later this month.
Honda is doing the refresh on the Pilot and HR-V amid strong demand for SUVs and light trucks. Sales are up 1.9 percent this year and for the first time Honda light trucks (includes SUVs) are expected to outsell Honda passenger cars.
Changes to the 8-passenger Pilot include a more aggressive exterior styling and under the hood refinements to the 9-speed automatic transmission. Honda's Sensing suite of advance safety and driver-assistive technology is now standard on all grades of the Pilot. Honda also did a host of technology upgrades on Pilot including 4G LTE in-car Wi-FI to a new Display Audio touchscreen system.
For the HR-V, Honda is introducing new Sport and Touring trims in addition to a refreshed styling for the subcompact SUV. The model gets the latest version of the Continuously Variable automatic Transmission (CVT), additional sound-quieting features and variable-ratio electric power steering.
Honda Sensing is now standard on HR-V models with the EX or higher trim pacakage. The 2019 HR-V refresh will be available starting July 24.
The 2019 Pilot refresh will be in dealerships starting July 16.
