Video once again played an important role for Honda dealers, as the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback premiered during the Civic Tour “Remix” performance on the Honda Stage YouTube Channel, and can be viewed here: youtube.com/HondaStage.

Building upon the design of the 2022 Civic Sedan, which VehiclesTEST recently filmed and thoroughly examined for an upcoming Virtual Test Drive to go live on subscribing dealers’ websites, the hatchback has “Euro-inspired exterior styling and five-door versatility with an even sportier driving experience.” Most exciting for enthusiasts is an available 6-speed manual transmission, something that was missing from the sedan that arrived at dealerships in June.

VehiclesTEST will be conducting a Virtual Test Drive of the Civic Hatchback soon, for use on dealer websites and in emails.

The Civic Hatchback is available in four trim levels. LX and Sport trims are equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that puts out 158 hp and 138 lb-ft of torque. The EX-L and Sport Touring trims will get Honda’s revised 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. Both of these engines are the same as those found in the sedan - the real excitement is exclusive to the hatchback’s Sport and Sport Touring trim levels, where a new 6-speed manual transmission is available. Both of the engines should really shine when paired with the three-pedal setup, allowing drivers to make the most of the available power.

Visibility and usability has been enhanced over the outgoing Civic Hatchback, with larger side windows, a new window in the C-pillar, and a single piece rear window making it easier for drivers to see out the back, as well as improving the experience for rear seat passengers. Honda has increased rear legroom by almost 1.4 inches, and they’ve also widened the lower hatch opening by 1.6 inches to make loading cargo easier. All Civic Hatchbacks have a standard 60/40 split folding rear seat to allow for maximum interior versatility.
